Donn Perez did this: Make sure this doesn't yet exist?? 95% sure it doesn't... [4/17/10 - it DOES exist! and that's wonderful - look inside....]

maybe the micropayments from something like amazon's mechanical turk could be diverted into a non-profit...

that's really cool! BUT, too complicated for the average bear, especially those who are intimidated by bank accounts.

I still think your idea rocks and needs its own website, if only just a set of idiot-proof instructions so that people can easily do what you're doing.

Turns out it DOES exist! Or at least something 80% similar. www.networkforgood.org. Great organization. Can donate to just about any cause, and can set up recurring(!) donations. Only problem is that can't siphon off little bits of money and have an "account" there, but there are ways around that...

What I did (and think everyone should do!), is set up a new online checking account, use that to siphon off a few bucks ($5? $20? 50?) from your regular checking account every week, and then use the debit card that comes with the new account to make donations via Network For Good. Need to be careful you don't donate too much - no automated safeguards against that... but aside from that, it comes pretty close!

Do it! Let me know what you think! I'm really excited about this!
